1) First Friday – January 7th- Downtown Phoenix – It’s that time of the month where the artists of Phoenix open their doors to the public. Since First Friday is one of the coolest and greatest cultural events that Phoenix has to offer it’s a must see event!
2) Tostitos BCS National Championship – January 10th – 6:30 PM – University of Phoenix Stadium – According to the Fiesta Bowl’s website: "The Fiesta Bowl is proud to host its seventh national championship game on January 10, 2011. The No. 1 team in the country will face-off against the No. 2 team at University of Phoenix Stadium vying for the national title."
We have tickets still available for the game! However, due to the extreme demand tickets aren’t cheap:
5) Phoenix Suns – Friday is the day that former Sun and current New York Knick forward Amare Stoudemire makes his return to Phoenix. As of press time barely under 1000 tickets remain for the game…..most are singles.
6) University of Oregon Tailgate Party – Well Bar – This Friday through Sunday – THE Oregon bar in the Greater Phoenix area is throwing down a huge party sponsored by Widmere (how could they not sponsor this party??!?!?). If you’re a Ducks fan or on the Bandwagon, this is the place to be this weekend!

6) Zappa Plays Zappa – December 6th – Comercia Theater (Formerly Dodge Theater) – According to the press release voiced by Dweezil Zappa: "Has it really been 70 years? In honor of my dad’s 70th birthday which would have been December 21st 2010, we are celebrating with a special Dweezil/Zappa Plays Zappa musical tour in the fall 2010. One day is not enough so we are extending the birthday festivities from November through December. The tour stops in Phoenix on Monday, December 6th at Dodge Theatre. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 17th at 10am.
Not only we will be performing with him once again via the technological wonderment of enhanced video during live performance but we will also be performing the works from one of his most well known albums. What’s the best way to sum up what’s fun to do this week? Fun. You can check out Oktoberfest at the Tempe Beach Park, First Friday, and a wide array of concerts. However, the one thing to be noted to check out is are the Haunted Houses that are open for the Halloween season!

Incorporating an array of analogue and digital electronic instruments, on Friday, Oct. 1st, Substation will be performing LIVE at FUSE FRIDAYS with no records, cd’s or laptops! From the west coast thru the desert southwest, Substation is known as Arizona’s premier LIVE trance PA. On this night, the Substation sound could be anything and everything in between! The coming week is highlighted by the September 11th memorials around town. Tempe and Scottsdale looks to be the only ones to have memorial events posted at press time. From what the City of Tempe has planned, it’s going to be a great event.
1) Healing Fields – September 11th Memorial – Tempe Beach Park – September 10-12 – 5pm to 11pm each day – According to the Healing Fields website "Tempe will honor the nearly 3,000 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks at its 7th annual Healing Field tribute at Tempe Beach Park. The public is invited to view the display of American flags representing victims of that terrible day. On Sept. 11, the event will open with a ceremony at 5:40 a.m., and there will be a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m."

11) Phoenix International Raceway’s September 11th Blood Drive – September 11th – 8am to 2 pm – According to PIR’s website "The blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Phoenix International Raceway, 7602 S. Avondale Blvd. in Avondale. Fans wishing to participate in the Sept. 11 blood drive should enter the track at Gate 8 and proceed through the In-Field Tunnel to the Media Center.
Donors must weigh at least 110 lbs. and be at least 17 years of age. Donors must also be in good health, must not have donated blood in the past 56 days, and must present a current donor card or proper form of photo identification at the time of donation."

Although he was born and bred in the UK, 24-year-old Philip Gamble’s musical passions originate on the American side of the Atlantic. Miami bass, electro, ghettotech, Chicago house, and especially US hip-hop and R&B are all influences, which he then distills into an abstract, 808-driven house template. Gamble began releasing mixes under the name Girl U No Its True in 2006, but only recently started dropping remixes and original productions under the shortened Girl Unit moniker. His I.R.L. EP on Night Slugs has been a staple release for the post-funky set, remixes for C.R.S.T. and Pirate Soundsystem are on the way, and his jaw-dropping and as-yet-unreleased song "Wut" is poised to be a game-changer when it surfaces later this year.

San Francisco dj and producer MyKill has often been cited as "one of the most energetic dj’s in the Bay Area". His passion for music and love of entertaining takes him to different audiences every weekend. Having performed in almost every major club in the Bay Area he has held residencies at various venues such as Trigger, 1015 Folsom, Paradise Lounge, Fahrenheit (SJ), and the Beauty Bar as well as playing signature party nights from the likes of Blow Up, Bootie, Electro Pop Rocks, Glam, and the Academy of Sciences "Nightlife" event. Yesterday we reported on our Twitter and Facebook pages that we were investigating a tweet reported by the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Twitter page Monday morning stating that First Friday’s were on hiatus for the Months of July and August.
We have learned that the Twitter post above includes errors in that First Friday as a whole will take place in July and August. However, the most popular part of First Friday on Roosevelt Row will not take place during July and August for whatever reason. The Roosevelt Row schedule and location for September has not been made public as of today The rest of First Friday across downtown Phoenix will take place as normally scheduled.
