With the greater Phoenix area schools out for the summer there’s tons of kids out there with nothing to do and even more who really can’t afford something to do this summer.  Why not help deserving kids around the Valley get some positive influences and role models in their lives by giving them the gift of Tickets to the Phoenix Mercury this season.

For as little as $10 per ticket here’s how you can help:

PhoenixMercury.com is asking fans to participate in a special initiative, “Mercury Madness,” which will allow children from the United Way agencies, Special Olympics and a host of other community groups to experience a Mercury game.

Last season, Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns employees rallied support from the local community to provide more than 10,000 children a chance to enjoy a WNBA game and be exposed to some positive role models. This season, the local hoops organizations are looking to provide even more children the same opportunity and you can help!

Click here to make a donation by purchasing $12 tickets (regularly $43), which will go to deserving childred from the Phoenix area; or e-mail Dan Hilton at dhilton@suns.com to purchase the tickets for $10 to avoid the online transaction fee.

Visitors should enter password: DHILTON

Everyone who purchases tickets through the promotion will receive a donation letter, so that you can receive the tax benefit of your donation.

Starting December 1, 2008 through the end of January 2009, the wonderful folks at Ear Candy Productions are launching an Instrument Drive.  Ear Candy Productions are asking all residents of Phoenix to donate any new or ‘gently used’ instrument to any one of 30 drop off stations around the greater Phoenix area (a drop off station map can be found here).

The people that benefit from the Instrument Drive is the core foundation that Ear Candy Productions is built on:  making sure children have an opportunity to have their lives enriched through music.  All instruments “will be used to help revive and create music programs in schools, camps and youth organizations near the area they are being collected.”

If you don’t have an instrument to donate, you can still help out Ear Candy Productions by making a donation in numerous ways.

If you have an instrument to donate, please do not pass up the opportunity to give the gift of music this holiday season!

More information and details about where to drop off your instrument can be found here:

If you’re a Hockey fan, I mean a REAL hockey fan you know that the best way to become a fan is to go to a game in person. Every single aspect of the game on and off the ice is part of the game experience. 50/50 raffles, the food, the sounds and feelings that occur when your favorite team scores a goal or wins the game. All of these experiences from going to a Hockey game, no matter what level of a hockey game you go to, carries on with you for the rest of your life.

However, not everyone gets to experience the joy of going to an NHL game let alone a hockey game.  Especially the disadvantaged children of the Greater Phoenix area.  Would you not like to offer the chance for a child who may not be able to get to experience a hockey game the chance to go?

The Phoenix Coyotes ‘Tickets for Kids’ campaign gives everyone the chance to donate tickets and suites to numerous Valley non-profit organizations. Why not give the gift of Hockey to kids who just might become life long fans? Who knows, perhaps that child will become the next Sidney Crosby or Wayne Gretzky? It all starts with you and your gift of a ticket to a Coyotes game!

“Last season, we were able to donate about 20,000 tickets through the Tickets for Kids program,” said Flavil Hampsten, vice president of ticket sales for the Coyotes.

Tickets are distributed to non-profit organizations that apply each year to the Coyotes front office.  Among the organizations that have benefited from Coyotes Fans Generosity are:

- The Arizona Lost Boys Center
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona
- Chicanos Por La Causa
- The Single Parents Association
- The Sojourner Center

“The Coyotes truly have some of the most loyal and generous fans in the league. This concept of fans giving back to fans is really inspiring to us,” added Hampsten.
