Heavy Metal legends Iron Maiden are embarking on a brand new world tour that will be playing the Cricket Wireless Pavilion for one night only on June 17th. Opening the show will be another metal legend, Dream Theater.
Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson had this to say on what fans can expect for the Cricket Wireless Show “We’re still working on the set list for these summer shows, but this time it will cover the whole history of the band, and I can hint that we will be playing a taster from the new album. We already have the designs for the new Final Frontier stage show which we are building to bring out with us, so this summer tour will be a bit of a preview for the fans. It’s certainly looking very spectacular at this stage and with a brand new Eddie and an amazing light show!”
Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy had this to say about opening for Iron Maiden on this tour:
“Touring with Iron Maiden in North America is a bit of a dream come true for us! After 25 years together, at this stage in our career there’s honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for…and Maiden is one of them! It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we’ve done many one-off shows with Maiden and they’ve almost all been overseas, so it is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them--and on our side of the pond no less!”
This is a unique chance to see two great live bands in such an amazing setting. Iron Maiden has built a reputation for their stage shows, their music and their influence on fans. Come see why anyone who loves metal music is a fan of Iron Maiden. Don’t believe me? Check out the YouTube links below to get a good sample of what a live Iron Maiden show is all about!

Heavy Metal Legends Slayer and Megadeth have announced that they are postponing all of the US shows of ‘The American Carnage Tour’. This includes the tour’s January 23rd stop at the Dodge Theater.
Slayer lead singer and bassist Tom Araya is undergoing surgery to repair his back. Araya injured his back last October on Slayer’s tour of the far east. Attempts were made to try different remedies to alleviate the pain but none were successful. The procedure, Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, is a routine one and the recovery rate is very high. Back surgery was the last option as Araya could not provide a quality show on the upcoming US Tour with his back pain.
“Tom gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot,” said Slayer’s manager Rick Sales, “but they just haven’t handled the problem, so he’s biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month.”
Mr. Sales continued, “As unfortunate as this is for so many people – the Megadeth and Testament camps, the concerts’ promoters, and, of course, the fans – Tom’s health is the number one priority, and this has to happen.”
According to Megadeth’s website, both bands are looking to re-schedule the tour for the summer of 2010. All fans with tickets to these shows are asked to hold on to their tickets until both bands announce their plans for the new dates.
Megadeth will be announcing a US solo headlining tour for March and April shortly.
