In the middle of upgrading our site software we decided to make a cosmetic upgrade to the website as well. As you can see the site loads faster and is easier to read. We’re going to be rolling out some new features in the coming days as well as catching up on all of our news.
Let us know what you think of the new cosmetics!
We also are going to be leveraging our MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter Accounts more as we get tons of information, freebies, contests and other deals all the time. Links to these pages are on the far right hand column under ‘Manditory Links’.
In case you are wondering, the main photos at the top of the page have eight different themes to them. They are as follows:
Theme #1 – Sports Logos from around town – We are planning, in the coming months to offer expanded coverage of Phoenix Area sports teams.
Theme #2 – Barrett-Jackson Auction 2009
Theme #3 – Tempe Music Festival 2009
Theme #4 – Westgate City Center, Glendale
Theme #5 – ASU/U of A Hockey Game
Theme #6 – Scottsdale Culinary Festival
Theme #7 – Shot of the Atomic Punks from the Marquee Theater in Tempe
Theme #8 – A sample of the goings on at the First Friday Art Walk – Roosevelt Row

Our main editorial server crashed last week taking many articles that were to be published with it. We’re going to be posting a few of these articles that we believe should be published today. Among the articles that will be coming in the next day are:
1) Our Writeup of the Flaming Lips set at the McDowell Mountain Music fest
2) Our crashing of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine world premiere.
Our video and pictures from these events are posted to our Facebook Fan page and our You Tube channel. We will also be posting a video of the Flaming Lips covering Madonna’s ‘Borderline’. However, the first part of the video includes a Prince cover song (Purple Rain) that we need to edit out as Prince is notorious for not allowing any of his songs to show up on the internet for whatever reason. That and the crashed editorial server included our Video Editing software. Fun!
We will also be covering the Dave Matthews Band show this evening in photos so stay tuned….

If you haven’t noticed all of the subjects listed under ‘Article Topics’ have changed. We are in the process of re organizing all the news items we have published over the last year into these new categories. We should have this all finished in the next day or so.

As you have probably noticed I’ve been putting up ads and will be adding more as the week progresses.
The Cool Ticketmaster Widget in the right hand column updates automatically with events coming up in the next 7 to 10 days around the Phoenix area. If you see a Ticketmaster event you like, click it and it will take you to the purchase page. I’m trying to set something up for Live Nation shows as well so stay tuned….
We’re also in the process of interviewing writers for various departmental openings we have needs for. so expect many and varied new articles, reviews, and whatnot from some great writers in the coming weeks.

I know I promised two more events for Tuesday but two of the four events didn’t pan out. I was going to post an event for another Salsa night but couldn’t confirm if it was a one time deal or a re-ocurring event. The other event was free bartending lessons but it smelled like a sales ploy to sign up for their classes.

I’ve got four pretty unique and different things to post for tomorrow (don’t worry all are ongoing events every Tuesday) but I need to make some calls to get clarifications (mostly to make sure they are actually going on) for the events before I post them so hang in there until later today…

I think I had fun on the afternoon pub crawl/graffiti party I went to Saturday (and recovered from on Sunday)…I’m not sure. There is something about partying for 16 hours straight (I think it was 16 I lost track after a while) that is so fucking fun!

Ok so no event review at all this week.
Anyhoo, I’m heading on a T-Shirt Graffiti pub crawl on Mill Ave in Tempe Saturday with about 60 other people. I’m not sure if I’m going to review this or not. I’ll make a decision later in the week. If I do decide to publish the details of this event, I’ll probably send updates on Twitter as we are going to be changing bar locations every 1/2 hour until 6:00 PM.
Starting next weekend, I’ll probably be doing two reviews every week as my schedule is getting filled pretty quickly.
Also, once the weather cools down and the Monsoons are over I’m going to start doing some serious hiking not only around town but around the state of Arizona. I got a big stack of hikes I want to check out.

I’m probably going to be reviewing one event this week but that is questionable as I’ll be on a date at the time. Anyways, I’m in the process of finalizing the final categories of the site, adding more events. However, I will be preparing the marketing of this site for the press and other media types which will keep me busy. I’ll keep posting events as normal but I probably won’t be heading out to any events this week.
