Star Wars fans of all ages are going to love what George Lucas has cooked up for you.  On Sunday October 4th for two shows (2:00 PM and 7:00 PM) at the Jobing.com arena in Glendale comes ‘Star Wars: In Concert’. Fans attending these shows will witness music from all six Star Wars movies played by a full symphony. The music will be synchronized with clips from all six movies projects on a three story, High Definition, LED screen. On top of all that the evening will be emceed by Anthony Daniels who played C-3PO in all of the movies.

“We’ve taken the key themes from the music and cut together all the images that fit with each theme, so you can really get a sense of how the music played into the images,” said George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga. “The whole soundtrack is a testament to John Williams’ creativity and his extraordinary ability to enhance the emotional aspects of the films.”

Composer of the Star Wars movie soundtracks continues saying that “Creating the music for the Star Wars films has been an exciting and wonderful experience for me, and I therefore have derived particular pleasure in assembling a compendium of themes from all of the films to be presented in Star Wars in Concert,”. Williams continues, “The editors at Lucasfilm have created original film montages to accompany each of the musical selections, and in the process, I believe that a singular and unique Star Wars experience has been born.”

In addition….yes there’s more to this event….will be a traveling museum of a wide variety of Star Wars costumes, props, artifacts, and many other goodies from the LucasFilm archives…many of which have never been seen by the public…ever.

Some of the items on display will be:

- Full costumes for Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Plo Koon will be on display.

- For the first time ever, pages from John Williams’ original hand-written sheet music for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace will be exhibited for the public.

- Also on display will be various never-before-seen props from the films, including blasters and helmets from Coruscant, Tatooine and other iconic Star Wars locations.

We recently posted a rumor on our Facebook Fan Page that Phish will not only be playing their first West Coast festival ever BUT it will be on Halloween. On October 30, 31 and November 1, Phish will host ‘Festival 8′ at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA (site of the Coachella Festival).

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Phish Halloween shows they choose an entire classic rock album to play in Concert for fans and don’t announce they album they’re going to play until the show.

Here are examples of albums that Phish has played live, in order and in their entirety, over the years:

- Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon
- The Beatles White Album
- The Who’s Quadrophenia
- The Talking Head’s Remain in Light
- Velvet Underground’s Loaded

This is a once in a lifetime chance to see some great music in a great location for a pretty great price. Since this is a festival, there will be camping available and Phish always has fun things to do for their fans during the festival that has nothing to do with them playing music.

Tickets are $200 and are on sale now!

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to partner with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball teams to build a new spring training facility on Community land. It is the first Major League spring training facility in the U.S. to be built on Indian land.

According to the MOU, the SRPMIC will 100% fund, build and run this new facility.  The Facility will consist of a two team spring training baseball facility, an 11,000 seat ball park, 12 practice fields, office buildings that will house operations, major and minor league clubhouses and training facilities for both teams.

The SRPMIC and both baseball teams will be working together on the design with HKS Architects.  HKS most known projects have been the new Glendale Camelback Ranch spring training facility, and the new Cowboys stadium in Dallas.

“Our ancestors built ball courts on this land and throughout the valley,” said SRPMIC President Diane Enos. “Now we are excited about ‘bringing baseball home’ to our Community. It will add to the enjoyment of our members, Arizona residents and visitors to our state. This multipurpose facility is an ideal match for the vision of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community as we develop land along our western commercial corridor.”

The facility will be located at Indian Bend and Highway 101 and will open in Spring of 2011.
